Many designers dream of being able to work full time as artists. For Judith Barath, the dream has come true. Cast your mind back to 1991. You might remember Madonna's movie in Bed With Madonna, known to some as "Truth or Dare". In one scene, the 90s pop icon takes exception from local authorities to one part of her stage shows. "I am an artist!" she proclaims. And the audience groans.

There would be no such mass protestation and bemusement if Hungarian-born Illinois-resident Judith Barath were to say those same words, because they would be indisputable.

"About two years ago, I retired from client-end design work," she says. "Now I devote my time to my passion: art and creative living. Last month. Last month I suddenly felt like creating eight sculptures workers were building my new studio. After many years of stressful deadlines, I feel really lucky to have my freedom."
